It has been said that Coronado, CA has more history per square foot than the rest of San Diego County. In 1887, the Hotel del Coronado, a big, beautiful hotel on the ocean on the beach in Coronado, opened for business, drawing visitors from all over the country. Coronado, still a resort destination 125 years later, is now visited by people from all over the world.

The Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty was originally the idea of Edouard de Laboulaye. His idea was to present a statue to the United States on her centennial year, 1876, although Lady Liberty wasn't actually presented until 1886.
